The Dears – Warm and Sunny Days

The Dears, from Montreal, are wonderful. This guy’s voice reminds me of a softer-sounding Damon Albarn (of Blur and Gorillaz fame). Their dark pop sound made them forerunners in Canada’s up and coming indie scene that started around the millenium (oooh how long ago that feels now!), although that wave didn’t seem to hit out west until a few years after that. This song, off their 2003 album No Cities Left, is dreamy and groovy and instrumental and I quite enjoy it. They also have a later album named Gang of Losers, which I think is an amazing name. They have promised to release another in 2011 and I have a sneaky suspicion it’ll be one to look out for next year.
