Avi Buffalo – What’s It In For

This young indie-pop group from Long Beach, California is fresh out of highschool and have already hit it big with their self-titled debut album, which has received a lot of positive attention since it’s release in April, 2010. Described as ‘very Shins-esque’ by Rolling Stone, Avi Buffalo channel a very 90s indie vibe, touching on influences by Pavement and early Eels. An Uncut review of their live show in Brighton last summer says frontman and songwriter Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg songs contain a “twisted wordiness and heavy romance, hard to entirely unpick … should ensure a cult following at least. The crowd’s cheers indicate something more.” Exciting.

This song makes me want it to be sunny in Vancouver again. Isn’t winter over yet? I want to listen to this and read the paper and drink a coffee and be outside. Only… 5 more months.
