Beady Eye – The Roller

I have been claiming for almost a decade that Oasis is my favorite band of all time. I’ve fallen in and out of love with them many times during our eighteen-or-so years together (usually due to heartbreak) but was sad to hear they had finally called it quits in 2009. The very public Gallagher feud, which had plagued the band since the beginning, finally took its toll. Noel Gallagher left the group to do a solo career and the remaining members of Oasis have gone forth to start fresh as a new group: Beady Eye.

They’ve already released two other singles but I hadn’t heard either until today. I’ve either been living under a rock or… gasp… perhaps not as much of a Gallagher brothers fan as I claim to be? They’ve simply fallen off my radar due to the delightful abundance of electro/indie/pop beats that have been the main focus of my musical interest for the past year. However, I’m happy to say they’re back in my life and after giving all three singles a listen, this is by far the best of the bunch. Hearing Liam’s voice brings me back to being a teenager and listening to the Definitely Maybe album on repeat. Something in his voice just makes me happy.

I’m looking forward to what both bros come up with in the future but so far, I’m digging Beady Eye! Perhaps because it sounds exactly the same as a few of my favorite Oasis albums?

Please don’t tell them I said that.
