Slothpop – Leaping Over Books

Here’s a fun new five-piece to check out! These are two of the tracks I enjoyed most from Slothpop’s self-released self-titled debut album, out at the beginning of January. The group, from Indiana, is the brainchild of frontlady Kristin Newborn who, after years of travelling the world, returned to Indiana to bring her music to it’s full potential with the help of a band. Thus, Slothpop was born! While she remains the primary songwriter, Newborn says “[The other band members] have put their own color on the songs. It’s all of us now.” From the layered vocals to the sweet violin melodies and creative guitar plucking, each song on the album is a gem but these two upbeat tracks are my personal favs.

Happy Monday everyone! If that’s possible.
