You’ve probably heard it a gazillion times but here it is again, the catchy, guitar-heavy debut track from indie band Surfer Blood, a bunch of self-proclaimed surfer bums from West Palm Beach, Florida. Their debut 2010 album Astro Coast received mostly favourable reviews but it was this pre-released 2009 track that garnered the most attention, landing them on many “Top 100 Tracks of 2009” lists throughout the blogosphere.
They plan to release their sophomore album in late 2011 and think that by signing with large record label Warner Bros, they will have the ability to realize their true sound, which means stepping away from their lo-fi debut. “We never intended to be lo-fi anyway,” frontman JP Pitts explained. “Our songs are all quite big songs, it’s just that they were recorded on shitty equipment, in my apartment. They were lo-fi by accident.” Stay tuned!
