Bombay Bicycle Club is a great English indie group who have been on the scene for a few years now, having gained initial recognition after winning the “Road to the V” competition, a Battle of the Bands-type contest to find an opening band for 2006’s V Festival. After a few singles and EP, they released their debut album three years later called I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose, which was very commercially successful in the UK. Their sophomore album Flaws was released the following year and enjoyed moderate success but it’s their third album, coming out this July, that I’m really excited about.
What I think makes them unique from other bands (or at least it used to?) is their instrumental variation, including use of the banjo, mandolin, theremin and xylophone, along with your more traditional tools for rock. Can’t find out when this acoustic single was released but it’s a gem!
