The National – Think You Can Wait

Last month Ohio’s great indie rock band The National released this somber, beautiful track after being inspired by a film. According to baritone vocalist Matt Berninger, the group penned it after watching “Win Win,” a film directed by Thomas McCarthy and starring Paul Giamatti, that explores the themes of “very normal and good people trying to do their best and the struggle to be good.” The result is a slow, enchanting track that also features the stunning vocals of singer/songwriter and indie “It” girl Sharon Van Etten. The song plays over the rolling credits of the film, which I now can’t wait to see. It is depressingly beautiful, and it’s really good.

Wish I could have seen them at Coachella this weekend… I hear they put on an absolutely stellar show. Sigh.
