Here’s another great jam from Craft Spells, bedroom brainchild of frontman Justin Vallesteros, an LA kid who is now based out of Seattle and playing with a trio of like-minded hipsters. If you are still riding the Chillwave or have a soft spot for synth-filled dreamy pop, this band is for you! Craft Spells are a dream pop act that is emerging in a big way and I love how Vallesteros’ haunting vocals dance along with the soft drum kicks and sweet bass line.
This jam, an ode to random hookups vs. love everlasting, was released as their first single back in September 2010 by Captured Tracks. It is now featured again thanks to a great video recently created by Director Monika Lenczewska, set designer Tamarra Younis, and the handmade puppets and abstract light projections of Belarusian artist Yelena Zhelezov. This was made for a Room 205 series, an artists collective designed to fuse art and music and to showcase artists that they admire. Be sure to check out the other video for the song “The Fog Rose High,” it is pretty magical. Find out more on Myspace!
