HOLIDAY SPECIAL: The Drifters – White Christmas

THREE days until Christmas is finally upon us, folks, and today I’ve decided to go back even further… to 1954!

The Drifters were a great quintet of soul singers who recorded and debuted this cover of “White Christmas” in 1954. Clyde McPhatter’s sweet falsetto and Bill Pinkney’s bellowing bass makes for the perfect soulful Christmas carol, one that is sure to get your toes tapping and your fingers snapping. This song made a resurgence in the 90s through its use in Home Alone and one of my favorite holiday films, Mixed Nuts!
