Electric Guest – This Head I Hold

Here it is, folks! The best song you’ve heard in 2012 so far.

Electric Guest is a relatively unknown LA duo that have been making waves since winning the unofficial popularity contest at CMJ a few months back. This group is brainchild of dynamic duo Matthew Compton and Asa Taccone, the latter of whom is no stranger to writing a hit track- he played a hand in penning the hilarious (and Emmy winning) “Dick in a Box” for SNL a few years back. Asa teamed up with Matthew Compton with hopes of creating groovy, Motown inspired tracks and voila, Electric Guest was born. I love it.

“This Head I Hold” is the first single from their soon to be dropped debut LP, produced by the talented Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, and released by Downtown Records. If this song is any indication, not the mention the already explosive popularity of neo-soul in the last few years via artists like Gnarls Barkley and Fitz and the Tantrums, I predict this dynamic duo is going to blow up HUGE this year so prepare yourself! Find out more about them right here and be sure to watch the video below.
